Carrot and muscles fans,
Let me tell you this week was rough for Lucas.
The sweet crunch of a carrot became his nemesis as he continued toward his quest for a golden summery hue. Even Noodle began to doubt that Lucas could continue. But...
he succeeded in eating another 35 carrots! His total carrot consumption to date is 105 carrots. Let's check in with his picture. I must admit, Lucas seemed to have more color in his face to me, but I'm not sure whether I should thank the carrots or mother nature for this rare occurrence.
Here's a close up of his arm.
Now, I actually made a tiny change to my muscles routine. I did 60 push ups instead of 50 on the nights that I did push ups instead of triceps. This bring my weekly total to ::drumroll:: 240 push ups and 150 triceps this week! Who do you think is winning, humble audience? Check the image below and let me and Lucas know! :)

Week Two
All right ladies and gentlemen of the internet, we have hit week 2! Lucas has maintained his 5 a day carrot regimen which means that during the last two weeks, he has consumed an astounding 70 carrots! The number is impressive, however the "tan" leaves a little to be desired.
Check Lucas out. Do you notice any change in skin tone?
Here's a close up.
In other news, I slipped a little on my daily arm workouts, but I still completed 150 total push ups and 50 triceps. Notice any difference in muscle tone? I'm really hoping to win this competition, so if you notice any difference feel free to let me know! :)

Week One
Updates! So week one down, I did a total of 200 push ups and 100 triceps and as I was on the floor working on my guns, Lucas was busy eating 35 carrots. After a week of meals like this, Lucas reports that he is feeling fine, but has not noticed any change in his skin tone. I also do not notice any change in his natural "tan", but you can let us know if you see any change.
Here he is!
I, on the other hand, have noticed a bit of soreness in my arms after adding a new regiment of push ups to my day, but I don't notice any difference in visible muscle tone from last week. Lucas, the nice man that he is, says he has noticed that I look more defined. You tell us.
Here's my rockin' arm!
Oh, and I also decided to do a close up of Lucas's arm in order to provide a close image of his skin..

The Challenge
My husband Lucas is constantly reading about food on Google Reader and recently came across this article.
Now, like many people he has fair skin that quickly burns in the hot summer sun. I do not find this to be a problem and I never suspected that it bothered him until he announced he was going to try the "carrot tan." I assumed he was joking, but after a trip to the market, I realized this endeavor was both, very real and kind of amusing. Thus, this blog was born.
Because of my Sicilian heritage (and dislike of constant carrot consumption), I will not be joining Lucas in his quest for a carroty glow, but I have noticed I could use some sort of motivation to firm up my once muscular-now squishy arms. This, strangely, is the best reason that has come up so far.
Here is the challenge:
Lucas will consume 5 servings of carrots everyday until the end of July... or until he turns a frightening shade of orange/ encounters a health issue due to his choice of diet.
I (Michelle) will do 50 push-ups/triceps daily.
Evidence:
Each week, I will update the blog with pictures of me and Lucas as we continue along our journey toward becoming Carrot and Muscles!
Controls: I will attempt to take the weekly picture in the same setting with the same lighting.
The Goal: To see what will change first, my muscle tone or Lucas's skin tone.
Week one: Sunday, June 6th!
